numbers 1, 2 and 3 i cant answer.
4. How does Glass dodge the truth again once he realizes he has been caught by Forbes!
He doesn’t say that he made the story up. He tells people that he had sources that he trusted, and real people that he talked to, but he doesn’t.
5. What excuse does Glass give Lane for lying?
He tells Chuck that it was his brother was the one on the phone talking for Sims, but the reason he did that was because he was under so much pressure from everyone to get the numbers. That Sims just stopped talking to him because of his anger of the article, and he was very sorry for doing that.
6. What is the argument for not firing Glass from the New Republic?
They didn’t want to fire him at first because they thought him leaving would make all of the writers leave too.

CAUTION! READ AT OWN RISK.
Abortion is a controversial topic that people have a hard time discussing. In some cases, people can find abortion morally wrong while others think it’s their choice if they want to have it done or not. I believe it is a person’s choice if they decide to get an abortion because it is something that involves their life and their body.
Abortion is done in many different ways, but all of the options are painful. Unless you are put to sleep for your suction abortion, it will be very painful. The cervix is closed and hard and not prepared to open. The instruments are sharp and the sucking or pulling action is violent in the womb. In the first trimester (first three months of pregnancy) there are two common types of abortion. In a suction-aspiration abortion the opening to your womb (cervix) must be stretched open wide. In a Dilatation and Curettage (D & C) abortion, first the cervix is stretched open. Then, the abortionist inserts a loop-shaped knife (curette) into the uterus. He cuts the placenta and baby into pieces and scrapes them out into a basin. This usually produces a large amount of bleeding.
Yes, I know this is graphic, but if you want to know everything about abortion you’ll have to know how it is done.
Now in the second trimester (second three months of pregnancy) the Dilatation and Evacuation or (D & E) method is used. The cervix is stretched open using pencil lead sized sticks of highly absorbent material inserted into the cervical opening. Over 24 hours they absorb body moisture and swell, opening the cervix. A long pliers-like instrument is inserted into the uterus. Because the baby is too large to fit through the cervix, the abortionist uses the instrument to grab hold of the baby’s leg or arm and twists until it is torn from the body. That part is then pulled through the cervix. This is repeated limb by limb until the baby has been totally torn apart. The spine must also be snapped, and the skull crushed to remove these pieces. The nurse’s job is to lay all the body parts out to make sure they got the entire baby out of the uterus.
Finally, in the third trimester (last three months of pregnancy) a method called Dilatation and Extraction (D & X), also known as Partial Birth Abortion may be used. The abortionist inserts forceps into the stretched cervical opening. He grabs a leg of the unborn baby and turns the baby into a breech (feet pointing toward the birth canal) position. He then pulls the baby out, except for the head that remains in the birth canal. The baby is alive and moving. The abortionist inserts a sharp scissors into the base of the skull. A tube is inserted into the wound and the brain is sucked out. The now-dead infant is then pulled out.
This is where people feel the need to influence others decisions when it comes to abortion. I don’t think I could ever bring myself to get one, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to try and stop someone else from doing what they feel is necessary. Maybe they feel like they aren’t ready to have a baby, or can’t financially take care of a baby.
But there is another way; you can put your baby up for adoption. Instead of getting rid of the life being created inside you, you can give your child to someone who is ready and able to care for a child.

Feature Final
Pets are a normal thing to have for most families. You could have a dog, a cat, a bird, a lizard or snake, a fish, you name it. They’ll lay with you, play with you, sleep with you, walk with you and even eat with you. They become a part of your family, and everyone in a family makes mistakes. However, this type of mistake is a little more disgusting then most.
Tuesday, March 3, 2009 I went to work right after I came home from school. Working for fast food isn’t exactly the highlight of my life however I get paid and I work with amazing people. After a long day of school and work all I wanted to do was go home and sleep. I made my way home, down to my room and before I could even change my clothes, I smelt something; it was lingering in the air, tickling the inside of my nose telling me to run away. It smelt like something died. Then, BAM! My cat runs out of my bedroom door. It’s a little strange, but then I started putting the pieces together. I had an odd smell in my room and a cat that bolted so fast I could barely see her.
I started searching my room for any type of bodily function, you know what I’m talking about, that thing that just so happened to be hiding somewhere in the corners of my room. I found nothing. “Maybe,” I thought to myself, “Maybe I’m just going crazy and there really isn’t anything wrong in my room.” So I sat on my bed, I pulled open my covers and there it was. Four piles of cat poop pressed into my comforter. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I stripped my bed all the way to the mattress cover, afraid that it might have been sitting there so long that it sunk through all of the layers. I carefully placed my foul bed linens in a room next to the laundry so nothing (or no one) could get into it on accident (like another cat maybe). I walk upstairs a little ticked because I had no idea what I was supposed to do. I find my way to my mom’s bedroom to tell her of this stinky news.
“Jessica, you’re just going to have to sleep on the couch until we fix this.”
The couch, that’s all I could think about. It’s the one place that is not only uncomfortable, but out in the open. Forget about having a good night’s sleep, you’ll have cats crawling up and down your body, across your face and meowing in your ears.
And that is exactly what happened. I woke up three to five times a night to find a cat purring in my ear, or sleeping on my head. And every time I’d push them off they would just come back again and again and again and again.
My brother is the only one in my family that hasn’t been surprised with a little present in his room. In fact when he found out I was sleeping on the couch he only had one thing to say, “Wow Jess, how do you let this happen? I leave my bedroom door open every night and I never see anything wrong with my room.” And of course he says that with the biggest smirk on his face, like he’s special or our pets like him better. However, he knows a thing or two about mopping up a little cat pee in the kitchen, soaking dog pee out of the carpet, picking up a few stray pieces of poop in the living room or hallway but never in his room.
My mom, Margie, had changed her comforter at least three times in the past two years. She knows a thing or two about what to do when you pet has a “dirty little accident” where you sleep. She washes the comforter three times, letting the water soak in each time before checking to see if it’s clean. But there is one thing she says, will never come out completely, “cat pee,” she says. “The smell of cat pee festers in fabrics and leaves a slight stain.” If you choose to sleep with this “special” smelling blanket, you’ll never be the same.
“You just have to train them.” My dad said to my mother with his all knowing, master tone he has. “All pets just need to be told no, a little discipline. Ha I just can’t believe you guys go through this as often as you do.”
Well thank you for the advice dad, but I have a feeling cats can’t be trained, I guess I’ll just have to live with a few accidents here and there, even if they do smell bad.

Voices of Hope
On Friday, February 20th Eastview High School held their first sing-a-thon entitled Voices of Hope which was organized by Women's Chorale. With the help of Judy Sagen, their Choir Director, they were able to have performers from all over Minnesota to raise money for the Angel Foundation to help the families of cancer patients. A lot of hard work and effort was put into this event by students and directors to make this possible, and they brought the community together to support a worthy cause. The 14-hour sing-a-thon went from eight am to midnight. Brooke Kilgarriff, Miss Twin Cities and former Eastview student, was the announcer for this event and sang the national anthem as well.
All throughout the school day, classes were brought down to watch the fundraiser and help bring the spirit of the event alive. The 640 seats approximately were filled in the theater. Everyone was respectful and enjoyed watching the performers.
“When Words Fail, music speaks.” Said Judy Sagen as the fundraiser began. This was the phrase that kept going throughout the day. With over 80 groups and soloists, adding up to be over 300 performers, were performing in Voices of Hope, Judy Sagen was hoping to raise $25,000 for these families and patients. They had about 75 volunteers, 25 parents and 50 students, helping make this event happen smoothly and efficiently.
"We've got some janitors, a couple math teachers, the Japanese classes are going to come sing in Japanese," said Katherine Hove, a senior in the women's chorale who helped organize the event. The attendance ladies at Eastview plan to do a song from "Mamma Mia!" with feather boas, she said. And that's on top of master vocalists such as Robert Robinson and Maria Jette. Along with Spanish classes, Middle school choirs, and other choir classes from Eastview sang at this event.
One choir in particular, The Falcon Ridge Middle School Choir and their director, Mr. Scarr donated $205 to the Angel foundation. All choirs seemed to be grateful and appreciative to help support this cause and highly respect Mrs. Sagen and Mr. Douma for bringing this event to life.
Hannah Skalbeck, a member of Woman’s Chorale, is one of the many students who are affected by cancer in some way. Her mother, Joan, was diagnosed with stage-2 Pancreatic Cancer and was said to only have three to six months left to live. Hannah dedicated her song to her mother, in hopes of reaching this goal of $25,000, her and the 53 other members of Woman’s Chorale joined her on stage again for their choir’s piece.
Mrs. Sagen said “I think Voices of Hope was a complete success, absolutely. Our goal was to raise money and that’s what we did.” She didn’t know the exact amount of money raised for the foundation but she will find out shortly.

Five freedoms of the first amendments:
-religion
-press
-speech
-assembly
-petition
The first amendment does not regulate the behavior of private schools.
tinker v. des moines independent community school district (1969)
supreme court recognizes that the first amendment protects on-campus freedom of speech
tinker standard provided a start for student (freedom of) student speech in school
Fraser standard
Bethel school district v. fraser (1986)
innapropriate speech for class president, school officials feel they have the right to censor student speech if they find it vulgar and indecent
(certain limitations)
Hazelwood school district v. Kuhlmeier ( 1988)
hazelwood standard
supreme court significantly reduces the level of the first amendment protection by provided to most school sponsored student media. "reasonably related to teaching concerns"
applies only to school sponsored speech not public forum of student media
the frederick standard?
morse v. frederick (june 25, 2007)
jan 2002 olympics torch travels through town
principal cancels school
holds sign that says "bong hits 4 jesus" suspended for ten days
sues because he wasnt on school grounds and wasn't in school but principal says they are still apart of the school and they represent the school
supreme court rules because it was a school authorized activity, his suspension stays
